Halloween Costumes

Welcome to Punchin' Up!

Halloween Costumes

Boy,  life has sure been busy this last month with a few curves in the road, dealing with my Mom falling, breaking a rib and her collar bone.  Poor thing not fun and very painful.

But I'm looking on the bright side, maybe things will calm down.
Yah, Right!  Who am I kidding.
It's that time of season.
Busy!!!

I have to share with you my Grandkids
Halloween costumes.

Stpehen's Costume was easy as he wanted to be a Race Car Driver.  It is what he wears when he races anyway, so that was great.  One costume down and one to go.

Now my 7 years old granddaughter wanted to be a pink flower in a flower pot.  I have no idea how she came up with that idea, but she was determined to be  it.  Well, you know if you are a grandparent you will do pretty much anything for your grandchildren.

So...She went to the store with me to pick out her material and colors.
We didn't find "Terra Cotta" color for the flower pot so she said this tan multi color will do. We had to have brown for the dirt, green for the stem, pink for the flower and yellow for the center.  Well this is what I came up with.  Having no idea how I was going to make this, and with lots of hand sewing later,  it turned out pretty cute.   I asked her if she wanted leaves on the stem and she said
"No, Nana", my arms are the leaves.
She loves it, and that is what is important.

Love my two Grandkids.

Tomorrow, I will be sharing the Halloween Projects we did in my 3D classes.

Thanks for visiting
Have a great day,
Cathy

Butterfly Basics

Welcome to Punchin' Up! by Cathy

Hello there,
today I want to share with you a very simple card  that I created using the the "Brick Wall" Embossing Folder and the "Watercolor Wash" Stamp Set.
I have seen different variations using this type of technique and thought it would be fun to try with the ferns in the Butterfly Basics stamp set.

This card was a big hit at my last card class as everyone seemed to like it.  They were surprised how easy it is to create.

I like it's simplicity and how it can be used for a variety of needs.

Instructions:

You stamp the ferns with Always Artichoke onto Sahara Sand first and then embossed it with the Brick Wall Embossing Folder. Next you ink up the Watercolor Wash Background Stamp with Crumb Cake ink and stamp it over the embossed Sahara Sand Cardstock.  It's that simple, but it looks much harder.  I stamped the "Think of You" with Always Artichoke on a piece of 1/2" wide Sahara Sand and fish tailed the one end and attached it with dimensionals.  I also added Very Vanilla cardstock on the inside and stamped with a couple of ferns. (sorry, forgot to take a picture)

Products used:
Stamp Set:  Butterfly Basics, Watercolor Wash, Colorful Seasons
Ink:  Always Artichoke, Crumb Cake
Cardstock:  Always Artichoke, Very Vanilla, Sahara Sand
Accessories:  Brick Wall Embossing Folder, Dimensionals

Carols of Christmas

Welcome to Punchin' Up! by Cathy

Peace On Earth
(this says it all)

Today I want to share with you a card I created using the New Stamp Set "Carols Of Christmas" and the "Card Front Builder Thinlits Dies".
This is such a stunning card with the different layering dimensions, glimmer and sparkle.

I stamped the saying "Peace on Earth" first then I cut the double and single trees from the Whisper White card stock before I embossed it with the Softly Falling embossing folder.  I put Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer paper behind the double tree cutout and Copper Foil behind the single cutout.
I cut out a single tree out of Copper Foil and the small Dazzling Diamond tree is the left over middle part from the double tree die. (I had previously cut out many Dazzling Diamond double trees for another project and could throw away the middle part as it looked like little trees to me.)  I layered the double Whisper White trees with dimensionals, along with the Copper tree   and the small Dazzling Diamond tree. Then topped it off by adding a couple Pearl Basic Jewels.

Let me know what do you think?

Products used:

Stamp Set:  Carols Of Christmas
Ink:  Soft Suede
Cardstock:  Soft Suede, Whisper White
Paper:  Dazzling Diamond Glimmer Paper, Copper Foil Paper
Framelits/Thinlits:  Card Front Builder Dies
Accessories:  Softly Falling Embossing Folder, Pearl Basic Jewels, Dimensionals

Falling Flowers

Welcome to Punchin' Up! by Cathy

Falling Flowers Tea Dyeing

Today I want to share with you a card I created from the Falling Flowers Stamp Set and May Flowers Framelits.  My inspiration came from a gift bag that was made for an example in the Annual 2017-2018 Stampin' Up! Catalog  (pg. 143)  The minute I saw this gift bag, I knew it had to be made into a card.

What do you think?
I change it up a bit and added my own spin on the card.  Can you believe all the cardstock on the main part of the card is all Very Vanilla? This was a technique I came up with to change some of the color of the cardstock to add more color.  I call it Tea Dyeing, because it comes out like the color of Tea Dyed muslin. (Something I did way back in the day when I used to make country dolls and animals.)

Products Used:

Stamp Set:  Falling Flowers, Touches of Texture
Cardstock:  Soft Suede, Early Espresso, Very Vanilla
Ink:  Soft Suede, Early Espresso
Accessories:  May Flowers Framelits, Corrugated Elements, Basic Pearls, 5/8" Burlap Ribbon

Ok... so how did I do these flowers and leaves?

Well here is what I did.

The largest cutout flower is Very Vanilla, left the original color.  I stamped the two part flower with Soft Suede and then stamped another flower with Early Espresso all on Very Vanilla cardstock. I stamped over the Soft Suede flower with Soft Suede, stamping off once, using the stamp set Touches of Texture. (I used the stamp in the set that looks like splatters.) I used the May Flowers Framelits to die cut the flower. I used Soft Suede to sponge the middle of the Early Espresso flower and then fussy cut out just the center.   I stamped the leaves with Early Espresso on Very Vanilla and used the framelit to die cut the leaves, saving both the leaves and the cardstock that the leaves were die cut from. This will be your stencil that you will used later.  Then I sprayed each the Soft Suede Flower, Early Espresso flower and the leaves with a mixture of 3 drops of Soft Suede Reinkers with rubbing alcohol in a Stampin' Spritzer, filling it to the top. This is your "Tea Dyeing" mixture.  While still wet, I crinkled the flowers in a ball and carefully unwrapped the cardstock being careful not to tear it, let it dry.  I curled up the sides of the leaves while still wet and let them dry. The backround of the card is Very Vanilla, (cut at 3 3/4" x 5") sponged with Soft Suede around the edges.  I used the stencil from the leaves and sponged the leaves on the card with Soft Suede. The "swirly leaf/flower" is stamped using Soft Suede. The leaves at the bottom are stamped with Early Espresso.  The splatters are stamped with Soft Suede, stamping off once, then stamping onto the card. Layer all your base pieces of your card first and then add your die cut leaves and layer your flowers.  I curled up the edges of the large Very Vanilla flowers after all was glued on to the card.  The small corrugated flower is cut from the Corrugated Elements (pg. 196) using the flower in the May Flowers Framelits and glued on.  Add Basic Pearls and the 5/8" Burlap ribbon.
Now you have a beautiful card that looks harder then what it is to do.  Enjoy!!

Daisy Delight Sympathy

Welcome to Punchin' Up! by Cathy

Daisy Delight Sympathy

Here is a Sympathy card inspired by Pinterest using the Daisy Delight Stamp Set and the Delightful Daisy Designers Series Paper.   Making a Sympathy card is hard for me as I know if I'm making one someone I care about has passed on, so I try to have some ready to go just in case I need one.

This card is very simple, but so pretty and very peaceful.

 Instructions

The base of the card is cut at 5 1/2" x 6 1/2"
Scored at 2 1/4", for the front flap, making the back base your standard 4 1/4"
The Designers Series Paper is cut at 2" x 5 1/4"
I cut out the oval from the Stitch Shapes Framelits before I stamped my flowers.  This way I knew how to position the flowers and stems to fit the oval I wanted.  I layered the oval with the flowers onto an Old Olive Scalloped Oval from the Layering Ovals Framelits.  I used Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Green Glue as I call it, to adhere part of the oval to the front flap.  I used dimensionals to adhere the oval saying being careful in placing the dimensionals, not to adhere it to the back of the base as it wouldn't be able to open then.
Have fun creating!!!

Products Used:

Stamp Set:  Daisy Delight, Rose Wonder
Cardstock:  Old Olive, Whisper White, Daffodil Delight
Ink:  Daffodil Delight, Old Olive
Framelits/Thinlits:  Layering Ovals, Stitched Shapes
DSP:  Delightful Daisy
Accessories:  Dimensionals

Graceful Garden Fun Fold

Welcome to Punchin' Up! by Cathy

Graceful Garden

Today I want to share with you another Fun Fold Card using the New Stamp Set "Graceful Garden" and the beautiful Designers Series Paper
"Petal Garden".

Isn't it pretty?

I stamped the rose on Shimmery White Cardstock using Rich Razzleberry ink.  I colored in parts of the rose with the Rich Razzleberry Watercolor Pencil and blended it with a Blender Pen. I fussy cut the Shimmery rose out, added dimensionals   and layered it onto a circle I cut out from the Designers Series Paper "Petal Garden"using a Layering Circle Framelit.  As you notice it is the same rose, but the rose on the DSP is just a bit larger which I think gives it more dimension as it is layered with the Shimmery rose from the stamp set "Graceful Garden".

I was so excited how it turned out!

 What do you think?

This is the same Fun Fold I used on the card I shared with you last week using the stamp set "This Little Piggy".

I love this type of fold.  It is just so fun to give a card that isn't your regular type of opening fold.

Last week I had many requests for the cutting and scoring instructions, so I have posted a picture of the cutting and scoring instructions below so you can make one too.

The diagram is for cutting the square window fold  I used to make the "This Little Piggy" card.  You used the same cutting and scoring directions except you use the largest Circle from the Layering Circle Framelits and place it where the square is.  You can see part of the edges of the circle framelit in the square as I was using it for a  template to make this card.
  Products used:

Stamp Set:  Graceful Garden
Cardstock:  Rich Razzleberry, Pool Party, Shimmery White, Whisper White
Ink:  Rich Razzleberry
Designers Series Paper:  Petal Garden
Framelits:  Layering Circle Framelits
Accessories: Watercolor Pencils, Blender Pen,
Stampin' Trimmer, Pool Party 3/8" Shimmer Ribbon, Dimensionals

Welcome to Punchin' Up! by Cathy

Today I want to share with you a card I made using the New Stamp Set "This Little Piggy" and the New Embossing Folder "Polka Dot Basics".

I think this stamp set is so cute as it can be used for a variety of occasions for both adults and kids.

I used Watercolor Paper, stamped the piggy with Basic Black and used the Aqua Painter with a drop of the New In-color Powder Pink reinker to color in the piggy.  I used the Stampin' Marker Old Olive to squiggle the grass and Daffodil Delight and Tangerine Tango Stampin' Markers to color in the flower. I added dimensionals to the back of the Piggy and placed it over the New Powder Pink Ribbon to give it that pop.
I love it... So cute.

Wedding Card
Hello, today I want to share with you a Wedding card I created using the the new Garden Trellis Embossing Folder, Sunshine Wishes Thinlits and Sweet & Sassy Framelits plus I can't forget the New gorgeous 3/8" Silver Metallic-Edge Ribbon.  Very simple card with layers of white on white, but I think is is so stunning. What do you think?

The base card is the heavy weight Whisper White cardstock with a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of  regular Whisper White Embossed cardstock.  The heart is glued on just in the middle at each point so that the sides of the heart raise up.  The little heart is glued just at the point on the big heart and 2 dimensionals are added at the rounded part of the heart.  Then the large heart is glued onto the embossed cardstock the same way as the little heart, gluing at the point and added 2 dimensionals at the rounded part of the heart.  The bow is attached with glue dots. The saying is 1/2" wide and rounded on each end with a circle punch.
I think it would also be perfect for a Special Anniversary.

Bunch of Blossoms 3-Step Stamping

Welcome to Punchin' Up!

As you know..... I love to create Fun Fold cards and this card was just "itching to be made" with the new "Delightful Daisy" Designers Series Paper.
I used 3-step stamping to create the flower and 2-step stamping for the leaves using the Stamp Set "Bunch of Blossoms".  I thought the flower resembled the flower in the Delightful Daisy DSP.
Stampin' Up! always lists the colors on the back cover page of their DSP which helps you know the color scheme. A great tool in designing your projects.  Well,  my creative side came out (sometimes that can be scary, LOL) and I went against it all.  I added my own color scheme of what I thought it looked like.  It lists Night of Navy and Calypso Coral which you can definitely see in the DSP, but I added Wisteria Wonder and Pumpkin Pie.
I love the color combination.
What do you think?

How I created the flower.
(3-step stamping)
I stamped the outline flower with Night of Navy, the solid image of the flower I used Wisteria Wonder stamping off and then stamping on the cardstock. To make the darker color (shading), I stamped with Wisteria Wonder directly on the cardstock with the 3rd stamp creating more depth.
Leaves
(2-step stamping)
The leaves are created using Old Olive for the outline stamp and Pear Pizzazz for the inside of the leaves.
I layered the white cardstock on Night of Navy and then added it to the base card which is Wisteria Wonder.  The saying is stamped with Wisteria Wonder and layered with Pumpkin Pie.

Products used:
Stamp Set:  Bunch of Blossoms
Ink:  Night of Navy, Wisteria Wonder, Old Olive, Pear Pizzazz
Cardstock:  Wisteria Wonder, Night of Navy, Whisper White, Pumpkin Pie
DSP:  Delightful Daisy
Accessories:  1 1/4" Circle Punch, 1 1/2" Circle Punch, Dimensionals

Please visit my online store to purchase any of these products used to create this card or any products that are on your wish list to create your masterpiece. Daisies

Welcome to Punchin' Up!

Bouquet of Daisies

As I had mentioned in my earlier post this week I said I would post a picture of the gift I made for my friend.  Well here it is....

What do you think?
It was so fun to make these flowers. I like the way it turned out.
Making daisies:
Each individual daisy is made by using 3 punched daisies.  Sponge the middle of each then you glue two together and punch a 1/16" hole in the middle of the third.  Make a circle loop in your florist wire and bend up. Hot glue the wire to the 2 glues daisies while the glue is still hot add the 3rd daisy by putting the wire in the hole and gluing it to the bottom of the flowers.  This covers up the wire loop.  Add your center Faceted Gold Gem. Now you have a finished daisy.
Purple Flowers:
Each purple flower is basically made the same as the daisies, the only difference is that I cut each daisy petal in half , sponged all the flower petals and used 4-5 punched daisies to make each purple flower.

Products used:

Cardstock:  Wisteria Wonder, Whisper White
Ink:  Night of Navy, Daffodil Delight
Punch:  Daisy
Accessories: Sponge Daubers, Gold and Clear Faceted Gems,  5/8" Burlap Ribbon

Please visit my online store to purchase any of the products shown or to purchase any products you have on your wish list.

Watercolor Wings Butterfly

Welcome to Punchin' Up!

Beautiful Butterfly

Hello, I want to share with you today a birthday card I made for a dear friend of mine.  I used the New Designers Series Paper "Whole Lot of Lovely" and the Stamp Sets "Watercolor Wings and Falling Flowers".  I have been so excited to share this card with all of you, but couldn't until she received it. Well,  I was finally able to give it to her last night. I will be sharing the gift I made for her later this week.
