Falling Flowers

Welcome to Punchin' Up! by Cathy

Falling Flowers Tea Dyeing

Today I want to share with you a card I created from the Falling Flowers Stamp Set and May Flowers Framelits.  My inspiration came from a gift bag that was made for an example in the Annual 2017-2018 Stampin' Up! Catalog  (pg. 143)  The minute I saw this gift bag, I knew it had to be made into a card.

What do you think?
I change it up a bit and added my own spin on the card.  Can you believe all the cardstock on the main part of the card is all Very Vanilla? This was a technique I came up with to change some of the color of the cardstock to add more color.  I call it Tea Dyeing, because it comes out like the color of Tea Dyed muslin. (Something I did way back in the day when I used to make country dolls and animals.)

Products Used:

Stamp Set:  Falling Flowers, Touches of Texture
Cardstock:  Soft Suede, Early Espresso, Very Vanilla
Ink:  Soft Suede, Early Espresso
Accessories:  May Flowers Framelits, Corrugated Elements, Basic Pearls, 5/8" Burlap Ribbon

Ok... so how did I do these flowers and leaves?

Well here is what I did.

The largest cutout flower is Very Vanilla, left the original color.  I stamped the two part flower with Soft Suede and then stamped another flower with Early Espresso all on Very Vanilla cardstock. I stamped over the Soft Suede flower with Soft Suede, stamping off once, using the stamp set Touches of Texture. (I used the stamp in the set that looks like splatters.) I used the May Flowers Framelits to die cut the flower. I used Soft Suede to sponge the middle of the Early Espresso flower and then fussy cut out just the center.   I stamped the leaves with Early Espresso on Very Vanilla and used the framelit to die cut the leaves, saving both the leaves and the cardstock that the leaves were die cut from. This will be your stencil that you will used later.  Then I sprayed each the Soft Suede Flower, Early Espresso flower and the leaves with a mixture of 3 drops of Soft Suede Reinkers with rubbing alcohol in a Stampin' Spritzer, filling it to the top. This is your "Tea Dyeing" mixture.  While still wet, I crinkled the flowers in a ball and carefully unwrapped the cardstock being careful not to tear it, let it dry.  I curled up the sides of the leaves while still wet and let them dry. The backround of the card is Very Vanilla, (cut at 3 3/4" x 5") sponged with Soft Suede around the edges.  I used the stencil from the leaves and sponged the leaves on the card with Soft Suede. The "swirly leaf/flower" is stamped using Soft Suede. The leaves at the bottom are stamped with Early Espresso.  The splatters are stamped with Soft Suede, stamping off once, then stamping onto the card. Layer all your base pieces of your card first and then add your die cut leaves and layer your flowers.  I curled up the edges of the large Very Vanilla flowers after all was glued on to the card.  The small corrugated flower is cut from the Corrugated Elements (pg. 196) using the flower in the May Flowers Framelits and glued on.  Add Basic Pearls and the 5/8" Burlap ribbon.
Now you have a beautiful card that looks harder then what it is to do.  Enjoy!!

Daisy Delight Sympathy

Welcome to Punchin' Up! by Cathy

Daisy Delight Sympathy

Here is a Sympathy card inspired by Pinterest using the Daisy Delight Stamp Set and the Delightful Daisy Designers Series Paper.   Making a Sympathy card is hard for me as I know if I'm making one someone I care about has passed on, so I try to have some ready to go just in case I need one.

This card is very simple, but so pretty and very peaceful.

 Instructions

The base of the card is cut at 5 1/2" x 6 1/2"
Scored at 2 1/4", for the front flap, making the back base your standard 4 1/4"
The Designers Series Paper is cut at 2" x 5 1/4"
I cut out the oval from the Stitch Shapes Framelits before I stamped my flowers.  This way I knew how to position the flowers and stems to fit the oval I wanted.  I layered the oval with the flowers onto an Old Olive Scalloped Oval from the Layering Ovals Framelits.  I used Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Green Glue as I call it, to adhere part of the oval to the front flap.  I used dimensionals to adhere the oval saying being careful in placing the dimensionals, not to adhere it to the back of the base as it wouldn't be able to open then.
Have fun creating!!!

Graceful Garden Fun Fold

Welcome to Punchin' Up! by Cathy

Graceful Garden

Today I want to share with you another Fun Fold Card using the New Stamp Set "Graceful Garden" and the beautiful Designers Series Paper
"Petal Garden".

Isn't it pretty?

I stamped the rose on Shimmery White Cardstock using Rich Razzleberry ink.  I colored in parts of the rose with the Rich Razzleberry Watercolor Pencil and blended it with a Blender Pen. I fussy cut the Shimmery rose out, added dimensionals   and layered it onto a circle I cut out from the Designers Series Paper "Petal Garden"using a Layering Circle Framelit.  As you notice it is the same rose, but the rose on the DSP is just a bit larger which I think gives it more dimension as it is layered with the Shimmery rose from the stamp set "Graceful Garden".

I was so excited how it turned out!

 What do you think?

This is the same Fun Fold I used on the card I shared with you last week using the stamp set "This Little Piggy".

I love this type of fold.  It is just so fun to give a card that isn't your regular type of opening fold.

Last week I had many requests for the cutting and scoring instructions, so I have posted a picture of the cutting and scoring instructions below so you can make one too.

The diagram is for cutting the square window fold  I used to make the "This Little Piggy" card.  You used the same cutting and scoring directions except you use the largest Circle from the Layering Circle Framelits and place it where the square is.  You can see part of the edges of the circle framelit in the square as I was using it for a  template to make this card.
  Products used:

Framelits:  Layering Circle Framelits

This Little Piggy

Welcome to Punchin' Up! by Cathy

Here Piggy, Piggy, Piggy

Today I want to share with you a card I made using the New Stamp Set "This Little Piggy" and the New Embossing Folder "Polka Dot Basics".

I think this stamp set is so cute as it can be used for a variety of occasions for both adults and kids.

I used Watercolor Paper, stamped the piggy with Basic Black and used the Aqua Painter with a drop of the New In-color Powder Pink reinker to color in the piggy.  I used the Stampin' Marker Old Olive to squiggle the grass and Daffodil Delight and Tangerine Tango Stampin' Markers to color in the flower. I added dimensionals to the back of the Piggy and placed it over the New Powder Pink Ribbon to give it that pop.
I love it... So cute.
What do you think?
